MEMBERSHIP
Application form for
Library Membership can be obtained free of cost from the
Library property cum checking counter. There is also no
admission fee.
The duly filled in application form along with the following
documents have to be submitted to the Duty Librarian during
the lending hours of the library i.e. from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm with a break between 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm on all working days and from 8.00 am
to 2.00 pm on Sundays.
(i)
Two stamp size photographs (Including the one pasted in
the application form).
(ii)
Electoral Identity Card / Driving Licence / Passport – (For A,B,C & D class membership)
(iii)
Attested copy of the applicants office identity card(For E class membership).
(iv)

There is no monthly subscription

The membership fee is refundable on withdrawal of the membership
provided the member has no outstanding liability to the
State Central Library, Thiruvananthapuram.
Note:
In
the case of students /children above 14 years of age, they
should submit along with the application form the document
(II) shown above belonging to either parents or guardian.
LOAN
PERIOD
Books
: 30 days (including holidays)
Periodicals : 7 days (including holidays)
Loan period of books can be extended for one more month
by post, over telephone or by online or in person on or before the due
date provided the book doesn’t have any reservation.
No extension will be allowed on requests made after the
due date stamped for the return of books.There is no provision for the extension of lending period
of periodicals. The overdue charge for books and periodicals
are as shown below:

50 Paise for the first five days after the due date (stamped)
thereafter Re.1 for every additional day.
LOSS
OF BOOKS/PERIODICALS
In case a book is lost, the member has to procure a new
Library edition copy of the same and settle the matter after
paying overdue charge if any. For a lost periodical, its
latest copy should be returned with over due charges if
any. In case the book is out of print the member has to
remit the cost of book as decided by the State Librarian
with over due charges if any.
Revenue Recovery Proceedings will be initiated against members
those who fail to comply with the above rule.
LOST
BORROWER’S TICKET / IDENTITY CARD
In case of lost Borrower’s Ticket or Identity Card
the matter should be informed to the State Librarian in
writing. A fine of Rs.5 for each Borrower’s Ticket
lost and Rs.50 for Identity Card will be levied.A recent
stamp size photograph is required for duplicate ID.After
clearing the liabilities new Borrowers Ticket and Identity
Card will be issued.
CLOSED
REFERENCE / SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
Entry to the above sections are permitted on submitting
special requests in prescribed application available in
library. Members are allowed to refer books and bound volumes
of periodicals and old news papers during 10.15 am to 4.45
pm on all working days except Sundays.
REPROGRAPHIC
SECTION
Members are permitted to take copies of relevant pages from
books / periodicals / Government Gazette within the purview
of Copyright Act on remitting the stipulated fee. This facility
is available from 10.15 am to 4.45 pm on all working days
except Sundays.
DATE
CONVERSION CERTIFICATE
Date of birth recorded in Malayalam era will be converted
into corresponding Christian era date and a certificate
to this effect will be issued by the State Librarian on
realisation of a fee of Rs.25 per certificate on all working
days from 10 am to 5 pm except sundays based on request
of the concerned.
INTERNET
BROWSING CENTER
Library Members as well as non-members can avail this facility
on remitting the stipulated fee subject to verification
of their identity from 10 am to 5 pm on all working days
except Sundays.

Note:
1.
The reference section functioning in the first floor of
the Library will remain open from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm on all
working days. During Sundays the timing will be 8.00 am to
2.00 pm.
The
cash counter will be closed 15 minutes prior to the end
of book lending time.
Members
can reserve Library books.
Members
should always bring the ID Card and show it on demand.
